Pujols Pulls in BIGS Cover

The Cards' first baseman will have his mug all over 2K Sports' fancy new arcade baseball game.

Call it an unfortunate byproduct of having the Major League Baseball license, but when you have actual MLB players featured in a game with actual MLB stadiums, it's probably a good idea to throw an MLB All-Star on the cover -- even if the game is aimed (at least generally) in the direction of people that might not know who the hell they are.

Y'know, kinda like us.

That's okay, though; we have a press release to fill in the details, and you have our first details on the game to get you excited and when the twain shall meet, there shall there be interesting tidbitties. For instance, did you know that The BIGS cover man Albert Pujols is the youngest player ever to hit 250 homers? Or that he bagged a Gold Glove for his 2006 World Series performance for the St. Louis Cardinals after pulling down a trio of Silver Slugger honors? Or that he talks like this:

"I'm honored to represent this revolutionary new baseball title from 2K Sports," Pujols wept. "I've been blessed to have played in some monumental baseball games in my career and it's amazing to see how The BIGS captures the most dramatic plays and brings them to life in a baseball video game."

Neither did we, but now we all know! Hooray!

"The BIGS celebrates the heroes of Major League Baseball and the epic moments of professional baseball," boasted Erik Whiteford, 2K Sports' VP of Marketing. "Throughout his career, Albert Pujols has delivered unforgettable plays at the most amazing times. His larger-than-life abilities and flair for the dramatic embody the spirit we are striving to capture in this game, making Pujols the perfect cover athlete."

Considering we know about as much about baseball as your grandma, we're just going to go with what ol' Erik says as being true. Now we wait for the inevitable announcement of the soundtrack and our first preview build of the game, at which point we'll make sure you know all about both. See you then!
