It appears that the Blu-Ray capabilities of the Playstation 3 are appreciated by gamers and publishers alike, as Midway has announced that a collector's edition of the upcoming Stranglehold game will be exclusive to the system when it hits shelves this summer. The game puts players in the shoes of Inspector Tequila as he fights for revenge in real-time or 'Tequila Time', which is marketing speak for 'slow motion'. The game promises environmental damage to spice up battles, but there's no telling just how extensive this will be.

Included in this special version of Stranglehold is a copy of the 1992 action film Hard Boiled starring Chow Yun-Fat. The limited edition will sport a noir-looking cover as well as a $70 (ok, $69.95) price tag.

"The 50GB capacity of Blu-ray disc allows PS3 content publishers to do things simply not possible on our competitor's 9GB DVD-based systems. Thanks to the advanced technology found in PS3, developers like Midway can truly realize their visions, bringing consumers even closer to the game." said Riley Russell of SCEA.

For those who can't get enough of this timeless cinematic masterpiece, you can pick up a two-disc re-release of the film on July 24th, being released by The Weinstein Company and Genius Products to celebrate its 15th anniversary.
