Activision's Comic-Con Marvels
You didn't think the Big A was going to let Capcom, Sony and 2K have all the fun, did you?

The Comic-Con announcements, they are a-flowin'. Not to be outdone by Capcom early last week, nor Sony Online Entertainment last Friday, nor 2K Games earlier today, Activision has announced they're throwing a couple offerings into the ring. It makes sense, what with them locking down those X-Men and Spider-Man licenses until 20-effin'-17, but it's still nice to see the showing is more than just a rehash of the stuff at E3.
Case in point: you'll actually be able to see a live demonstration of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance performed by the good folks at Raven Software (who are, y'know, making the game). Being a comics convention, though, Activision is clearly milking their audience for all their worth. Tryouts for the fan-supplied voiced for in-game characters will be held, and appearances by Stan "The Man" Lee, scribe C.B. Cebulski, Mad TV alum and "that dude that's in every animated thing ever" (including Uatu in MUA) Phil LaMarr and Gabrielle Carteris (ohmigod, Andrea?) who voices Elektra. The superstar panel will be held in room 6B from 10:30-11:30AM on the last day of the Con (that's Saturday, the 23rd).
But it's not just muties that will be on show. A certain next-gen appearance by your Friendly Neighborhood Wall-Crawler will also show up. Though Activision hasn't indicated whether it will be in trailer form (likely) nor which platform it'll be on, the soothsaying powers of the Sony Computer Entertainment designers hold true: Spider-Man 3: The Game and no doubt it's eponymous font gracing the PlayStation 3 façade will make an appearance in some form or another.
Sadly, that's all we know right now. As we've said before, we'll be on hand to check things out, but given the state of PlayStation 3 development kits right now, we're not holding out on any sort of real-time PS3 demonstrations to be had. Still, it's next-gen games, and they're all over the friggin' place. Who knew Comic-Con would be such a neat showing for the PlayStation 3? Not us, that's for sure.
