Soul Calibur IV Now Available Nationwide

Tiny green muppets never kicked so much ass.

Rejoice, fighting game fans! Darth Vader and busty women no longer exist solely in your twisted, twisted fan fictions. Soul Calibur IV is now available at retail outlets nationwide, available for your consumption and enjoyment.

Included in the package are 30 characters total, including Yoda on the Xbox 360, Vader on the PS3, and, in a great bit of marketing, Vader's apprentice from the forthcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, who will be appearing on both consoles. There are also some cool new gameplay tweaks, including the ability to destroy your opponent's equipment and armor, visibly damage their clothing, and even perform 'Critical Finish' moves to beat your opponent in a single blow. Returning is Soul Calibur III's character creation mode, which is now more robust and offers plenty of options for customization (the folks over at Kotaku were even able to make our favorite Metal Gear protagonists with the feature). And if you want to be able to pit your favorite Star Wars characters against each other, there are rumblings that either exclusive console character will be available on the other via DLC in the future.

Soul Calibur always delivered in the past, and this looks like an improvement over the PS2-exclusive Soul Calibur III. Plus, Darth Vader. That guy is like Parmesan cheese or Gary Busey. Almost everything he appears in tends to win about a hundred times harder than it did in the first place.
