For a man who has spent the bulk of his career creating games that suck away hour upon hour from willing victims around the world, it sure did take a long time to get into the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition. But that's just what Sid Meier did, and just in time too, with his current claim to fame, Civilization Revolution, gearing up to hit PlayStation 3 on July 8th.

Don't think Sid Meier hasn't already been appreciated. however. Sid Meier's Civilization IV was selected as Strategy Game of the Year by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, and Sid Meier has won more game awards than any other video game creator in the world, which is the reason he entered the record books. He was the second person inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences' Hall of Fame, he's been inducted into the Computer Museum of America's Hall of Fame, and received a commemorative star on the Walk of Game. He's even won a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Game Developers Choice Awards. He's virtually unstoppable.

“I’m fortunate to be able to do what I love and am grateful for all of the wonderful recognition I’ve received over the years,” said Sid Meier. “It is every kid’s dream to make it into the Guinness World Records and I’m thrilled to be a part of the prestigious book.  I’m thankful to the many game critics who have enjoyed our games and hope they are as excited about our upcoming Civilization Revolution title as I am.”

If it's as addicitive as the PC offerings, you have nothing to worry about Sid. Though Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution might feature a slightly simpler experience than its PC counterpart, it's still Civilization and with that comes many hours lost, infinite re-playability, and an addicted product that cigarette companies only wished they had, all in an E for everyone stamped package. Come July 8th, no one is safe.
