Ten years ago, had you told me that a single video game's downloadable content would go platinum six times, I would've laughed at you. Then I would've asked who the idiots were who bought six million copies of something online?

Well, there's egg on my face, because Rock Band not only did just that, it did it in three short months. I attribute it to the fact that they release new content on a weekly basis, as well as the fact that what's featured is a range of tracks in various genres, providing a little something for everyone. With over 70 songs available, and more being added all the time, we might see twelve times platinum in another three months.

It goes without saying that Rock Band is an experience. For that reason, Harmonix and MTV Games are releasing a software update this week which brings a new in-game Rock Band Music Store to the game. Instead of leaving the Rock Band atmosphere, players can now download and play any tracks they buy directly from the game itself. There are also other features included with the update, many of which have been requested by the huge community surrounding the game.
