Luckily enough for Hornets point guard Chris Paul, there's no "NBA Curse" -- his face is the one that'll be appearing on countless boxes of NBA 2K8 when the game is dunked into shipping boxes this fall.
Averaging 7.0 points and 4.9 assists per game during the 2006 World Championship of Basketball, Chris Paul is a pretty popular guy in the basketball world. He's also expected to play in the summer olympic games coming up in 2008. Appearing on the cover of NBA 2K8 is just icing on the cake at this point, but he still seems pretty happy about the whole thing. "It's a great honor to be a part of the best NBA video game title, let alone the guy on the cover. I'm a big time video gamer and it's a dream come true to be on the cover and represent the next NBA 2K game, NBA 2K8."
Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts, explained the reasoning for choosing Chris Paul as the cover athlete. "Our success with our NBA 2K series has been greatly due to our philosophy for innovation and our ability to introduce new and unique features every year. There's a lot of anticipation for NBA 2K8 and it was only natural to select Chris Paul, one of the most exciting rising NBA stars, to represent it."
