Stewart Snags NASCAR 08 Cover

Good thing, too: EA’s circuit racer will be pulling double duty this year on both PS2 and PS3.

If there’s one thing about Electronic Arts, it’s that they always seem to drop the first details on their forthcoming sports installments, no, not through an official announcement, but rather by confirming whose famous mug will be mounting their product. Then come the specifics.

Not only will this summer have ex-Boise State QB Jared Zabransky grimacing over million o’ copies of NCAA Football 08, but we’ll also be seeing two-time Nextel NASCAR Cup champ Tony Stewart in the cover limelight of EA Sports’ latest testament to the art of driving in circles: NASCAR 08!

"Being on the cover of NASCAR 08 is an honor for me and my team," blushes Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet for Joe Gibbs Racing. "I am really impressed with the next generation game features and graphics - the realism and authenticity are amazing."

Stewart brings with him an impressive resume, nabbing two Nextel Cups in the past four years (with 29 victories in the top NASCAR series since 1999), as well as the most top-5 and top-10 finishes in the 2006 championship season.

Think you can replicate his work? NASCAR 08 dares you to, taking you through the circuit as a rookie driver, where you'll develop your skills on the track, earn licenses, unlock some of NASCAR’s top cars from its biggest stars (hoho!), and maybe even pick up a lucrative contract or two. Modify your ride with over 40 tuning options and then show ‘er off online in the 16-player-supportive races! Cold brews and NASCAR hats sold separately.

EA Tiburon will be pulling the double duty with getting both NASCAR 08 and the aforementioned NCAA Football 08 out the door this summer, coming to both PS2 and PS3. Also, something about another addition to this Madden guy’s best-selling franchise? Yeah, we’re not too sure either.
