SOE confirms Mortal Kombat II to be pummeling the PlayStation Network on Thursday.

For PlayStation 3 owners looking for a side platter of old-school nostalgia with their hunkin’ next-generation, high-definition main course, Sony Online Entertainment tickled just a few fancies back in January when announcing they were teaming up with Midway to bring a half dozen of the latter company’s classics onto the PlayStation Network. Namely, Mortal Kombat II, Gauntlet II, Joust, Rampage World Tour, Rampart and Championship Sprint.
The first of the bunch has been floating ‘round the Web in 1080p screenshot/trailer form for some weeks now (in something of an unofficial confirmation that it would indeed be the first of the six classics to roll out PSN style), but SOE has finally given us the release dirt on MKII, which will be available for download starting this Thursday, April 12. And for less than a Lincoln’s worth: $4.99.
Two days delivers a cast of 12 classic and unlockable kombatants, 10 stages to romp on including the acidic Dead Pool and even online multiplayer complete with leaderboards. You can wait, right? No? Hey man, if we could fast-forward time, we’d be all over it.
