According to the Reporter, Columbia Pictures is in negotiations to acquire the rights, with Michael De Luca stepping into the producers’ chair. Hideo Kojima; creator of the Metal Gear series, will oversee the project as executive producer. Doug Belgrad and Sam Dickerman from Sony Pictures Entertainment will oversee the project for the studio, while also working in consultation with Kojima-san and Josh Bratman, who originally brought the project into the company.
De Luca has produced a number of movies over the past 20 years, including Zathura, A Man Apart, Blow and Magnolia. He is currently serving as executive producer on Ghost Rider and 21. As always, we will have more information on this project as it breaks.
