Call it games imitating life. The idea of games themselves being art is debatable (you’ll hear people both inside and out of the industry sounding off on the subject all the time, and it’ll likely become an even hotter topic heading into the next generation of systems), but the role of tattoos as art has been solidified for centuries (much to the chagrin of parents upon seeing their children getting something as cliché as a tribal wrap).

One in-game character that’s taken to getting a little ink is Mattias Nilsson, the anti-hero of the upcoming go-anywhere, detonate-anything, shoot-anyone sandbox epic Mercinaries 2: World in Flames (and, technically, a main character in the first Mercinaries). Ol’ Matt likes him some tats, so much that he’s got almost two full sleeves for you to gawk at while playing the game, admiring the scenery and texture detail before you make things ‘splode.

Here’s where you come in: Pandemic is having a quickie context where the winner will get their art slapped on Mattias himself, along with a credit in the game. All you need do is hit the official Mercs 2 site and submit your design. Hurry, though, you only have until June 16th (that’s this Friday) to get everything in. Well hurry up, now, start putting stylus to digital tablet (or paper to scanner)!
