Before Spring Training gets going, 2K Sports, the sports publishing arm of Take-Two Interactive Software, has decided to give baseball fans everything they've been asking for by gracing Major League Baseball 2K8 with a set of new features that will make eyes pop out of sockets. Fans might even forget there's any Spring Training at all after they see what the game has in store.

"With Major League Baseball 2K8, our goal was to bring fans of the Major League Baseball 2K series closer to the exciting baseball action than ever before," Ben Brinkman, Executive Producer of the Major League Baseball 2K franchise, said about the game. "We read the message boards and forums, and spoke to MLB® players in an effort to deliver realism and tap into what the fans want in a baseball video game. From the new pitching system, and fielding and baserunning controls, to a completely overhauled batting interface, and addition of a robust Minor League™ system, Major League Baseball 2K8 will deliver players a fun experience they will want to play year round."

Some of the new features added to the game include:

Total Pitch Control - A new interface that lets players emulate realistic pitching. Match specific gestures and release with the right analog stick to simulate the arm and wrist action needed to throw each particular pitch.

Swing Stick 2.0 - With improved batting controls, players are given unparalleled ball-to-bat contact that delivers a greater variety of realistic hits including ground balls, blooper singles, dribblers, gappers, long home runs, and more with the right analog stick.

All-New Baserunning - Simpler controls let fans select players with the left analog stick and guide them toward specified bases like never before.

Precision Throw Control - Throw accuracy control has never been simpler with the right analog stick, bringing the defensive game right to the major leagues.

Full Minor League - 90 authentic minor league teams and 18 minor league stadiums are packed into franchise and exhibition modes.

All of this, including two of the best commentators in the business. 2K Sports is bringing back the popular duo of Jon Miller and Hall of Famer Joe Morgan. With these two back in the broadcast booth, players are sure to get the most entertaining and deepest commentary available in any baseball franchise to date.

As if that weren't enough, Major League Baseball 2K8 includes Signature Style animations such as improved player walk-ups, batting stances, home run celebrations, step-ins and step-outs, and more. Players can also jump online and go head to head in single, tournament, or full league season games. New online lobbies have been added to match users up against others with similar play styles among the millions in 2K community. The new lobbies include a "Strikers Only" lobby, where pitchers can only throw in the strike zone, as well as lobbies where players can utilize either the advanced analog stick controls or controls from the previous iterations of Major League Baseball 2K.

Major League Baseball 2K8 will be sliding home on March 4th for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable. Don't miss out. Just like season tickets, this game is sure to deliver all year round.
