When the grim fate of bankruptcy befell Acclaim Entertainment back in 2004, there was a fair deal of speculation concerning what might come next for the company’s then in-progress titles. A chosen few got their second chance: the street racer Juiced, for one, was quickly picked up by THQ and saw a legit release to retail in June 2005. By March ‘06, THQ had gone ahead and acquired developer Juice Games altogether, and in a unique rags to riches story, the franchise rides on.

In a big way, too, as today brings word of Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights, a full-fledged sequel to adrenaline-fueled drift racer that will be scouring current and next-generation consoles, meaning – would you believe it? -- PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PSP luv all around.

"THQ studio Juice Games is utilizing its vast racing pedigree and proprietary technology to deliver groundbreaking new game-play features in addition to working closely with Hot Import Nights to accurately capture the tuning and street racing culture," gasps Bob Aniello, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, THQ. "We look forward to bringing this global franchise to next-generation systems for the first time."

In case you aren’t so savvy on the street racing scene, Hot Import Nights (or better yet, HIN) is something of a cred-worthy auto show specializing mostly in import tuner cars. Scratch that, it is the nation’s largest custom car show of its kind. And for Juiced 2 players, that means a chance to dive head first into an actual HIN tour to experience everything from top-of-the-line vehicle tuning to hitting up real-world locales and getting your track or drift racing, complete with the event’s signature DJs, fashion, and musicians.

And babes. Lots of babes.

"Juiced 2: HIN introduces a thrilling new drifting component and lets players personalize their experience both on and offline with ultra realistic Driver DNA," quips Colin Bell, general manager, Juice Games. "In addition to a ton of exciting new features, we've significantly expanded the rewarding driving experience, track choice and customization our fans have come to expect."

So you know about the new drift/powersliding races. You know about the Driver DNA that cleverly keeps track of your personal driving traits. But did you know about the select celebrity profiles that you’ll be able to download on all Internet-enabled systems? Or the evolved online play, that will have you right back in the habit of crafting craws, assembling your running crew and risking it all in pink slip and crew races? Throw in that added gambling element, and you’ve got yourself a shiny new racer.

"Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights is an amazing extension of the Hot Import Nights lifestyle experience, bringing the modding, characters and racing finale to life for gamers and tuning fans worldwide," opines Michael Munar, Executive Producer, APG Events/Hot Import Nights. "This is the first time a top-tier racing game has blended with a true-to-life global tuner event and we can't wait for its release."

But wait we shall, as Juiced 2 won’t be drifting into retail until the fall. Hey, more time for us to slide a few of those game and media updates your way! We’ll keep you posted.
