Hail to the Chimp Details

If your loyalty lies with another animal, this might not be the game for you.

The animal kingdom isn't called a kingdom without a reason -- but chaos ensues when the Lion, the king of all other animals, is removed from his throne. What are the animals to do? Riot? Fight for power? Nope. Cooler heads prevail, and the animals decide that democracy is worth a shot to determine who should be in charge. Unfortunately, that only lasts for so long, and a fight soon breaks out. In Hail to the Chimp, no one is exempt from the battle as everyone in the animal kingdom fights for their piece of the pie. If nothing else, it's certainly an interesting premise.

The game looks to be similar to Super Smash Brothers Melee on the GameCube. For those of you (understandably) unfamiliar with one of those other consoles, it's basically an all out multiplayer brawl between various characters. Hail to the Chimp boasts something new, however: "No one has attempted to bring an over-the-top party game like Hail to the Chimp to next-gen consoles, much less one with biting political satire," says Rick Sults of Gamecock Media Group.

Subtle political commentary aside, the game looks to spice up battles with trap-filled environments and constantly shifting alliances between species to keep things fresh. Gamecock has told us that Hail to the Chimp will be making an appearance at this year's E3, and as always, we'll be there to cover it. When the time comes, we'll cast our ballot and let you know if the game is worth voting for with your wallet. Until then, citizens!
