Guitar Hero Hits iTunes
So you wanna download a bunch of songs from the game, eh? Okay, check this out.

And we have come full circle. Well, maybe not full circle, since artists aren't quite playing songs they created just for Guitar Hero in concert (yet), but the fact that Activision has put up a handful of themed collections of tracks from the games up on iTunes for purchase is, dare was say, downright synergistic (don't worry, we punched ourselves in the face for that one).
It really is impressive what they've cobbled together. The complete track lists from all four GH games, sold on their own or as part of the Essentials Mixes -- 25 tracks apiece that range from chart-toppers to less well-known songs, or you can get the whole 75 track shebang for... (wait for it) about $75 bucks. So much for buying in bulk and saving.
“Guitar Hero fans have been clamoring for increased accessibility to their favorite songs from the set lists,” claims Dusty Welch, head of publishing for Activision/RedOctane. “Where there’s music, there’s Guitar Hero, and with iTunes, we are able to provide fans with a central location for downloading their favorite rock anthems.”
The lists, admittedly, are pretty cool. In addition to having the full track lists from previous games (including the bonus tracks from bands that you may never have heard before -- and long-time Harmonix buddies Freezepop, which you'd better know by now), there are custom sets from Slash and the Sex Pistols' Steve Jones (who re-recorded a version of "Anarchy in the U.K. just for Guitar Hero III). It's not a bad bunch o' tracks if you dug the songs from any of the games (or the upcoming one). To check 'em all out, make sure you have iTunes installed and just click here to check out all the offerings.
