Tom Morello Joins Guitar Hero III

The Rage Against the Machine guitarist will be a boss in the game.

Though plenty has been said (both good and bad) about Tony Hawk developers Neversoft taking over the Guitar Hero franchise since original creators Harmonix Music Systems moved to their next project, Rock Band, there hasn't been much talk about the new things that are being added to the franchise, chiefly among them the new single-player boss battles.

Now, it seems, we have a bit more information thanks to the news that Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave will make an appearance as a boss character (Slash from Guns 'n Roses and Velvet Revolver, who also created the opening theme for the game, is the only other confirmed boss). In a neat little twist, beating Morello unlocks RATM's "Bulls on Parade," with Morello joining you on stage for that song.

"Whenever I play Guitar Hero my opponent always kicks my ass on my own riffs. It's embarrassing,” Morello confessed. “Now that I'm actually IN the game I hope the digital me will win once in awhile!"

“We are thrilled to have two guitar icons of our generation on board to be bosses in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock,” giggled Tim Riley, Activision's worldwide executive of music. “Both Morello and Slash went into the studio and created mind-blowing original recordings designed to be challenging for even the expert players.”

Mmmmm... Mind-blowing. Screw the haters, we can't wait to play through the final version of this game.
