Grand Theft Auto IV to Break Records

Will a “No, duh?” suffice?

Grand Theft Auto IV has the potential to break records.

Now that I've gotten that bit of non-news out of the way, let's get into the meat of why I said it: Guinness World Records says it has the potential to break records. Now that's a little bit different. More specifically, it has a chance of finding itself in the record books... in Guinness's Record Books. See where I'm going with this?

In fact, the Grand Theft Auto series has a habit of finding itself plastered between those pages, as one will note after a quick glance at the previous titles:

• First Full “Sandbox” Action-Adventure- GTA III

• Biggest Selling Game of 2001- GTA III

• Biggest Selling Game of 2002- GTA: Vice City

• Best-selling Playstation 2 game of all time- GTA: Vice City

• Best-selling PSP game of all time- GTA: Liberty City Stories

• Largest in-game soundtrack- GTA: San Andreas

• Largest Voice Cast in a video game- GTA: San Andreas

• Most Guest Stars In A Video Game Series- Grand Theft Auto Franchise

We'll have to wait and see if Grand Theft Auto IV joins its brethren in those hallowed halls but we won't have to wait much longer. Tuesday can't get here soon enough.
