Grand Turismo 5 Prologue Drives onto a PS3 Near You Soon

This is almost like dipping your fingers into the brownie mix before they're done.

European car enthusiasts, your prayers have been answered. Not only is Grand Turismo 5 Prologue coming out on March 26th, but it'll also include 16-player online racing, 71 cars, and a TV channel!

Sony and Polyphony Digital decided that March was the new Christmas. The best thing to do in that situation is to give folks what they've been clammering for: Grand Turismo 5 Prologue. With that in mind, GT5 Prologue is going to coming in a plethora of bundles, including a retail Blu-ray Disc for €39.99, a download from PlayStation Network starting on March 27th for €39.99, and a PS3 40GB bundle with SixAxis wireless controller and GT5 Prologue for €399. If you've been holding off on getting a PS3, there's no excuse now. In fact, just get two. You'll thank me later.

The Grand Turismo series doesn't really need an introduction, considering it's one of the cornerstones of true to life racing sims, but there might be some who've been hiding under a rock for the last ten or so years. If that's the case, then it really sucks to be you because, even though I'm not a GT fan myself, it's still a great looking and playing franchise. GT5 Prologue continues in every aspect. The game hits the tracks with vehicles by Lotus, Aston Martin, Ferrari, and much, much more, all of which can be raced on six beautiful tracks that'll make even the most jaded HD enthusiast think they're watching TV instead of a game.

GT5 Prologue also introduces online racing with up to 16 players via PlayStation Network. Global Online Rankings are also included.

As if that's not enough, Gran Turismo TV, an online channel that can only be found on PlayStation Network, lets you watch live coverage of motorsports. You can also browse through the Gran Turismo museum to see the history of the franchise and its many cars.

There's also additional features for the European version of the game like Drift Mode, where players drifting techniques are measured based on angle, racing lines, and speeds within the drift zones on the courses, In Depth Car Tuning, so players can do all the fiddling they've grown accustomed to, and new online racing events set at scheduled times.

For being just a prologue, this seems like a pretty robust offering. Most full priced games don't even offer this much. Can you imagine what the final product will be like? The full version of this monstrous project comes out in 2009. That gives you nine more good months to fiddle with this to your heart's desire. Once the real thing hits, however, you better kiss your life goodbye.
