EA Sets Up New Chicago Digs

The guys behind Fight Night finally have a new office.

Let it never be said that EA doesn't do things without a certain amount of fanfare. Take, say, opening a new office for an existing development team. They pull in comments from folks working there, talk about the city -- hell, they even get a comment from the mayor. All for setting up an office that's going to continue to do what it did before. Just, y'know, on a larger scale.

A much larger scale, actually.

Located at 215 West Ohio Street in the heart of downtown Chicago, EA Chicago's new digs signify the start of a growing commitment to next-gen development. Def Jam: Icon has already been announced, and of course Fight Night Round 3 is a PlayStation 3 launch title, but apparently there's a third project under wraps. EA plans to grow the current 150 strong staff by a whopping 100 more people by next year. Guess all that talk about increased budgets and manpower in next-gen development is true, eh?

“We are pushing next generation development and technology to the limits and looking for the best talent to help us to create innovative games,” explains ultra-pimp Kudo Tsunoda, VP and GM at EA Chicago. “We are in a great location downtown in a unique building that gives us access and visibility to the best resources and creative minds of this thriving city. We have talented teams working on our games but we’re always looking for new perspective and ideas to consistently push us to be fresh, innovative, and creative.”

“One thing that sets Chicago apart from many other cities is our diverse workforce, which can meet the needs of just about any business,” chimed in Mayor Richard M. Daley. “EA Chicago will create new jobs and add to Chicago’s reputation as a global center of innovation.”

And there you have it. Congrats to Kudo and the Chicago boys and girls; they earned themselves a shiny new office.
