For PS3 development, the Bay Area-based developer heads north.

There are few hotspots in development right now like Canada, particularly places like Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto, which house divisions of EA, Rockstar, Ubisoft’s world headquarters and, now, KOEI. In an effort to help gear up for the PS3, they’re amassing talent north of the border – particularly to handle their upcoming next-gen racer Fatal Inertia.
"Toronto is a vibrant city with a rich cultural mosaic that provides us with the necessary talent to develop games for a global marketplace," beamed KOEI's Founder and Chief Advisor Yoichi Erikawa, who under the pen name Kou Shibusawa is regarded as one of the world's top game designers. "As a game creator, I am excited to be here and to work firsthand on the Fatal Inertia project. I feel that it will be a top launch title for the PlayStation 3."
The KOEI Canada development team at the moment is about 30 programmers, artists, designers and support staffers, but there are plans to boot those numbers to anywhere from 150 to 200 strong over the coming years. KOEI’s not compartmentalizing things either, offering the Toronto-based staff positions abroad in Europe and Asia KOEI studios. All part of their grand vision to become "The World's #1 Entertainment Content Provider." Cue fanfare.
