id Software's Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars Gets Launch Date

FPS + id = Love.

Gamers needing their FPS fix on PlayStation 3 just got a new champion: id Softwae's Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars will hit North American store shelves on May 27th, 2008, with Europe and Australia getting it on May 30th, 2008.

The Activision Inc. published game, that was developed by id Software and Splash Damage for Windows, throws the Earth's Global Defense Force against the Strogg, Quake's resident aliens of choice. Set in the year 2065, gamers work as a team to thwart the menace with new classes, vehicles, and weapons. There's even online and offline battles, with the ability to battle against other players.

Of course Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is polished with id Software's very own MegaTexture rendering technology. What would an id game be without Carmack's jaw dropping engine to power it? The engine is capable of generating massively detailed battlefields located in all manner of terrain with lighting and special effects that'll make you think the Stogg really are invading Earth.

It goes without saying that id Software and Activision have a bit of a hit on their hands. It's Quake, it's FPS, and it's id. Need I say more?
