Webzen's Endless Saga

It's endless because it's massively multiplayer online, you see.

Webzen already made a splash with its showing of the upcoming massively multiplayer online shooter Huxley back at E3 this year. The Seoul-based developer/publisher seems to have an uncanny grasp of next-generation hardware and rendering techniques.

This bodes well for PC and console gamers alike, as the hardware for each is increasingly becoming intertwined. With all three next-gen systems getting there graphical cojones from either of the two biggest PC 3D card manufacturers, the techniques and knowledge of shader programming required for fancy looking PC games will soon transfer over quite easily to next-gen consoles (particularly the PS3 with nVidia's whole Cg schpiel).

At the Annual PlayStation Meeting taking place in Japan, Webzen formally announced Endless Saga, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (cause, y'know, we don't have nearly enough of those right now)... and revealed precisely jack otherwise. Sure, we've got a logo, and a web site, but that's about it aside from a short snippet of video that was played at the Sony-only show.

"WEBZEN is honored to be among the select group of third-party publishers invited to participate at this year’s Annual PlayStation Meeting," exploded an enthusiastic Nam Ju Kim, CEO of WEBZEN, Inc. "We’re excited about being one of the first publishers to bring a new online game to the PS3. We look forward to working closely with Sony Computer Entertainment Japan throughout the development cycle to ensure this new fantasy game appeals to MMORPG and PS3 fans everywhere."

Guess it'll be a while longer before we have any real facts on the game. For now, you'll just have to make do with the impressive real-time (yes, really) screenshot on the Endless Saga game page. Well go on, take a look!
