Next-Gen Consoles Already Condemned
And it's all because of SEGA.

As we get closer to the inevitable announcement and unveiling of the next generation of hardware, more and more games are finally starting to show themselves, though at least for now, it seems like most are still in the talky "we're gonna do this" phase of things rather than the showy "hey check out our real-time blah blah blah" stage.
That doesn't mean that we're not pleased as a pig in poo to hear about upcoming projects, and SEGA's latest, titled simply Condemned certainly sounds interesting. Apparently quite pleased with their progress on The Matrix Online, SEGA has opted to saddle Monolith Productions with the task of developing the next-gen effort.
Condemned seats players in the persona of Ethan Thomas, a FBI suit working in the Serial Crimes Unit, a man tirelessly dedicated to tracking down serial killers. His search will take him "through detailed urban environments filled with deadly sociopaths who lurk on the periphery of humanity" according to SEGA's official marketing blurb. Solving crimes and collaring crooks will be handled through a mixture of forensic tools, instincts and good ol' fashioned melee-powered elbow grease.
"SEGA expects Condemned to engage the game player with visceral, in-your-face, urban combat and an unparalleled level of unpredictability," offered Scott A. Steinberg, VP of Entertainment Marketing at SEGA of America. "The atmospheric tension and cinematic qualities of Condemned offer consumers the rich experience of a psychological thriller; something that has not been accomplished on previous hardware platforms."
"To become a leading independent game publisher, we must reinvigorate the SEGA brand by publishing great content that boosts revenue across all western territories," offered Simon Jeffery, SEGA of America's President and COO. "Condemned represents an aggressive product acquisition strategy created to compliment SEGA IP with market-appropriate next-generation games."
"New leaps in technology are allowing our teams to create immersive game environments that are incredibly realistic," agreed Samantha Ryan, CEO of Monolith Productions. "Monolith's goal with Condemned, is to combine a disturbing atmosphere with realistic physics, devious AI, and a sophisticated combat system."
If anyone is capable of wrapping their ones and zeroes around next-generation hardware, it's Monolith, who already seems to be walking down the path of spooky games with their upcoming PC first-person shooter F.E.A.R., a game that scared the bejeezus out of us at E3 last year. Hopefully we'll get the same treatment from Sega's booth as we ooh and ahh at all the next-gen titles at this year's E3.
