Harry Gregson-Williams Scores Call of Duty
The man behind the tunes of Metal Gear Solid is providing the aural backdrop for Modern Warfare. Well, the theme anyway.

Activision is apparently sparing no expense for their latest (and frankly awesome) entry into the Call of Duty franchise, culling the considerable talent of one Mr. Harry Gregson-Williams to craft the main theme for the game and recruiting long-time Gregson-Williams contributor Stephen Barton to handle the main score for the game.
“Harry Gregson-Williams was the perfect choice to craft an immersive and rich soundtrack that matches the heightened atmosphere and tension of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare,” gushed Grant Collier, Studio Head at COD4 developer Infinity Ward. “Harry’s wealth of experience, passion and intensity together with the talents of young composer, Stephen Barton, shine through in the score draws gamers deeper into the epic and cinematic experience that is Call of Duty 4.”
Kind words to be sure, but Gregson-Williams' involvement with the game is merely the latest in a long string of Hollywood soundtrack talent. Michael Giacchino handled the music for the early entries into the series, and other Hollywood mainstays like Graeme Revell and Joel Goldsmith have jumped in as well. Though Gregson-Williams will only be scoring the main theme for the game, he'll be overseeing the production of the rest of the score, which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London with a full orchestra.
We'll have a whole lot more on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in just a few days.
