Well they certainly took their time, but finally the multiple award-winning Bioshock has gone gold for the PS3 and will be available at retailers across North America on October 21 and internationally on October 17. As if that wasn't enough to get you feverishly reaching for your flippers and a snorkel, you'll be pleased to know a demo will be hitting the PSN Thursday, October 2 for you to give a whirl.
Why should you care? Because they've taken one of the best games of 2007 and upgraded it for the Playstation 3, with new features such as the inclusion of the survivor difficulty mode, trophy support and the addition of all-new add-on game content that will be available for download shortly after launch. Pricing and availability for the add-on game content has not yet been detailed, however it will be specified at a later date.
If however you've been living under a rock for the past year, shacked up in rehab for a crippling drug addiction or maybe you just wanted to live the life of a hermit for a while then you might be wondering what all the fuss over this game is or perhaps what it's even about?
"BioShock is a narrative-driven action experience that allows players to do the impossible as they journey through an amazing, immersive and terrifying world. Caught between powerful forces and hunted down by genetically mutated citizens, the player will come to grips with the mysterious and fascinating world of Rapture, a distinct Art Deco underwater utopia gone mad. BioShock not only challenges players’ capacity to adapt and survive, but brings to question their values and relationships with the inhabitants of Rapture. With smart and adaptive AI, no encounter ever plays out the same way twice, while numerous customization options provide gamers with an experience that adapts to their playing style." says the man at 2K! If you're curious to find out more about the game and drool over some new screenshots for it, I suggest you go have a gander at our Bioshock page!
