Take-Two Acts Irrational
That would totally be editorializing if it weren’t for the fact that we’re referring to 2K Games’ acquisition of Irrational Games.

Developer acquisitions are all the rave these days (wouldn’t you say, High Moon?), and news today only adds to the tally, as Take-Two Interactive has scooped up Irrational Games (of System Shock 2, and more recently, SWAT 4 fame on the PC), now to have its titles published under the 2K Games label
"We saw a rare opportunity with Irrational Games, a development studio that has consistently produced creative and original games," complimented Christoph Hartmann, Managing Director at 2K Games.
Susan Lewis, VP of Business Development at 2K Games, added, "2K Games will provide additional resources and support to the Irrational team so they may continue to deliver cutting-edge games."
One of those “cutting-edge” games (and 2K Games is said to have many already in the works with Irrational’s North American and Australian studios) may in fact be BioShock, a role-player shooter, as it’s been called, that will be making its way to next-generation systems and PC in early 2007. This is the part where you start crossing your fingers, Sony fans.
"We are excited to be aligned with a publishing label like 2K Games that shares similar development goals and vision," grinned Ken Levine, co-founder and President of Irrational Games. "Fans will be blown away when they see the next-generation titles we are working on."
We sure hope so, Ken. We’ll be certain to bring more developing details on BioShock (if it is in fact PS3-slated) and Irrational Games’ other next-gen projects once they surface.
