[Gone Gold] October 26th
Oh, hey, there are enough games going gold this week to make it a regular thing.
Published: October 26, 2007
As we enter the busiest time of the year, the unholy juggernaut that is the 4th Quarter lineup, many games will be announced as having "gone gold," so many, in fact, that we might just get away with being extra lazy and lumping them all into a story at the end of the week.
For the uninitiated, a game going gold means it's effectively done. The final version of the code has been pressed to a master disc (back in the day it was actually gold colored, hence the name) and has been sent off to be mass produced (pending a final screening, test and approvals process from the big three, mind you). In most cases, this means the game will be hitting stores in a matter of weeks, so to keep you abreast of when things are hitting, we'll plug it in here, possibly throwing in a quote or two if a publisher is feeling especially verbose.
And now, for this week's fun:
[PlayStation 3]
[Assassin's Creed] | Release: November 13th
Woo hoo! The game that absolutely floored everyone at the last proper, technolight circus that was the Electronic Entertainment Expo back in 2005 is finally done. With a soundtrack by Jesper Kyd, a true go-anywhere sandbox that works as much vertically as it does horizontally and a mysterious plot that's been closely guarded, we can't wait to see how the game turned out.
"We've been working very hard for nearly four years to make Assassin's Creed a reality and now there is a confirmed date when players will get to experience the results of our efforts,” exclaims a relieved Jade Raymond, Assassin's Creed's producer. "This is a huge event for the team. Our biggest reward will be everyone having a lot of good solid fun.”
[BLADESTORM: The Hundred Years War | Release: November 6th
Though they may best be known for the 800 gajillion Dynasty Warriors games, KOEI's Omega Force development team can do something different, you know. Best thought of as a military sim with a healthy bit of inspiration from Dynasty Warriors, Bladestorm lets you command and level up entire squads of spearmen, mounts, swordsmen, arrowmen and more as you siege castles and fight small armies during the English and French 100 Years War. Fun!
Publishers: Want to make sure we've got your games in our Gone Gold blurbs? Just kick over those press releases or a note from the team to GoneGold@TotalPlayStation.com and we'll make sure they get tossed into the rotation.
