Joining what looks to be a phenomenon of poker game releases before the year's end, 2K Sports has sent World Poker Tour on its merry way to nationwide retail today.
So what's so much different about this poker game, you ask? Well... it's the only one to incorporate actual real-world venues! Namely, it's The Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, CA; Commerce Casino in Commerce, CA; Bay 101 in San Jose, CA; Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantaucket, CT; Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, NJ; and Paris' The Aviation Club de France. Also here are the "sport's" top pros, from Antonio "the Magician" Esfandiari to the lovely Evelyn Ng. And hey, even get your own mug into the game and take it online against a fierce table of competitors. We recommend taking a picture with shades on so they can't read your eyes... yeah.
"Poker has become a cultural phenomenon as shown by the increasing popularity of the World Poker Tour television series," said Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio. "The World Poker Tour brand is an integral part of our game as it brings unmatched credibility and familiarity to millions of poker fans. With the integration of World Poker Tour pros, commentators and presentation elements, the World Poker Tour video game delivers the most authentic poker experience found on any gaming platform."
World Poker Tour (since, despite Mr. Thomas' vagueness, that is what we're referring to) should be shelving as we speak, but if you find yourself in difficulty trying to pick out the "right" poker game, this one's budget $19.99 price tag may appeal.
