VF4 Starts Smacking Around the PS2
Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls, this is the day you've all been waiting for. Virtua Figher 4 on the PS2! Need I say more?
Published: March 19, 2002
In 1993, Yu Suzuki and his team of developers over at AM2 released a strange new fighting game called Virtua Fighter. And of course we all know how that panned out. So, almost a decade later, Suzuki is still up to his old tricks. And who would have ever thought that the port of the fourth incarnation of his great fighting series would be for Sony's PlayStation 2? The answer: nobody.
Mike Fischer, the vice president of entertainment marketing over at SEGA of America said that "Virtua Fighter 4 is poised to give the 3D fighting genre a much needed kick in the pants. The back-to-basics gameplay, fast action and liquid smooth graphics in Virtua Fighter 4 are quickly earning the game a reputation for being the best fighting game ever."
Included in the PS2 version are the following features:
[li] Totally customizable fighting styles, with the freedom to switch stances in mid-fight
[li]Ultra-high polygon character models, allowing for exacting details, including flowing clothing and realistic facial expressions
[li]New Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) training mode, allowing players to coach their own computer-controlled character, which can compete against other A.I. characters
[li]Two new characters, Lei Fei and Vanessa Lewis, join 11 existing characters for a total of 13 distinctive, fierce fighters
Virtua Fighter 4 for the PS2 is available now for a suggested retail price of $49.99 and has been given a "T" (for Teen) rating by the ESRB.
