Few things in life get our dork meters revving like the news that Viewtiful Joe has finally hit the PlayStation 2. Right now, the collective PSX2.com staff geek-o-meters are redlining like nobody's business, and we're been rapt in the sweet, succulent bliss of timeless old-school action.

Luckily, you too can get the kind of high that only a ridiculously merciless yet utterly rewarding and addictive action game can give you, and all it'll takes is a trip down to your local games store. As you read these very words, there should be a copy of Viewtiful Joe awaiting your gentle pluck from the shelf where it currently rests, and all you have to do to get it is slap down a cool 30 bones.

"Viewtiful Joe is the most innovative creation in videogames and we are thrilled to bring it to the millions and millions of PlayStation 2 owners," gushed Todd Thorson, Capcom Entertainment's Director of Marketing. "The combination of a classic side scrolling brawler and state of the art Hollywood-esque special effects makes Viewtiful Joe a one of a kind game that delivers a compelling and fun experience for every type of gamer."

We're pretty inclined to agree with ol' Todd, to the tune of many hundreds of words hammering home that point. You can get the full skinny here, but don't take our word for it (okay, do take our word for it); there are plenty of other industry geeks that have tipped their hat to Clover Studios' retro homage. Still don't believe us, eh? Fine, Dr. Doubtful, feast your eyes on these accolades:

:USA Today:
2003 Game of the Year

:G4techTV G-Phoria 2004:
Best New Franchise

:Game Developers Conference:

:Game Developers Choice Awards:

So there. There's bound to be plenty more awards and pats on the back for Capcom with the game hitting a far broader audience on the PlayStation 2, so if you don't snap it up now, we're sure all the incessant "buy this game!" comments from everyone will eventually wear you down. Why not save yourself the trouble and read our review, then go out and buy it? Remember, we only do it because we love you. Now git!
