True Debut
The Streets of New York are hereby yours to police.

For a game that started out as a GTA clone, Luxoflux' True Crime have taken a decidedly different path, seeking to replicate real cities right down to their proper street names rather than caricaturizing a whole city. For as many faults (and, yes, dragons) as the first True Crime had, it still reproduced LA faithfully, and the thrill of being able to drive to where you live is awfully cool.
The second game, True Crime: New York City abandons the camp from its predecessor in an attempt to create something far more gritty, and shifts coasts to distance itself from the mistakes of the past. At least in theme, it certainly does seem to have done that, though you can make that call after you play the game for yourself if you so choose, since the game's now available.
"True Crime: New York City is the first game to deliver the ultimate urban drama set against a realistic version of Manhattan," boasted Will Kassoy, Activsions, vice president of global brand management. "The game's deep and diverse gameplay takes players into the city's neighborhoods, buildings and subways and lets them virtually experience the city in a way that has never been possible in a videogame."
We've already covered everything from the basics in our modest preview to the voice cast assembled for the second outing to the soundtrack - including a couple of exclusives donated by Redman himself (who like Snoop Dogg in the previous game, is an unlockable character). In fact, you can probably get the whole spiel by just clicking on those links above.
Well sheeeeeeit, what do you even need us for? We're going to get a cookie. And some bacon. We don't need this crap...
