So this is it. We've been the hyping the long-awaited return of Lara Croft for well over a year now, with our fingers crossed from the very beginning, praying Crystal Dynamics would give the Tomb Raider series the overhaul it so desperately needed. Friends, the day has finally arrived, Tomb Raider: Legend is out, and assuming our review wasn't the first to tell you, it rocks hard. Now you can find out for yourselves.

And tomb raiding she will be, yes, finally. Get ready to do some drastic sightseeing, with a quest than spans the Bolivian landscapes, Peruvian jungles, Himalayan mountain ruins, African rainforests and, you guessed it, ancient tombs. Lady Lara is ready for it all, though, with her dazzling acrobatics (and a little help from that silky smooth new movement system and those real world physics), trademark dual pistols, and a bevy of new gadgets including a magnetic grappling hook, frag grenades, binoculars, personal lighting device, communications equipment, and GPS tracking. Sure, they'll come in handy for those challenging puzzles and puzzling challenges, but we might have to leave the "uncovering her mysterious past" part solely up to Lara. It's a bit more personal, y'know?

It's been a long two years, but Tomb Raider: Legend's release marks the return of gaming's most successful heroine (it's official, too). And a triumphant release it is! Be sure to check out our full review for the verdict (trust us, you'll like it) and keep an eye out for the forthcoming PSP version. Oh, and buy the game too.
