This week, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) released new information in regards to their new action-thriller title; Extermination. The PlayStation2 title will feature a very in-depth and detailed storyline picking up on December 5th, 2005.

When a state of emergency is announced within a US Military Base within the South Pole, a special reconnaissance team known as the Red Light is quickly dispatched by the US government. Before the team can reach the base in question, their transport experiences a sudden explosion, thus killing a majority of the team members.

Two survivors of the explosion; Dennis Riley and Roger Grigman of the Red Light team manage to make it to the facility, sneaking in on foot to examine the situation within. This is where the actual action-portion of the game begins, with the user suddenly being hurled into a whole new sense of reality.

So far, this game has all the makings of a big-time Hollywood film, with a detailed storyline and a good sense of direction. The developers of this title have promised to provide users with relentless action throughout the levels. A regional action system implemented within the title allows for single button actions combined with analog-stick movement to create many various attacks. This system, coupled with fast-paced action and multiple 'scare elements' create what could be a very promising title for the console.

This title has a current release date set for March 8th, 2001 in Japan. At this time, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has yet to comment on when North American audiences will get to see this title.
