USB Headset Now Available

Now you can trash talk to your online gaming opponent all day long thanks for the USB headset, out now in retail stores.

Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today that its USB headset is now available in retail stores across the nation. Utilizing Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and voice recognition technologies, the USB headset stands as the perfect peripheral for communicating with other gamers, online and offline. Oh, and by the way, it's a PlayStation 2 exclusive.

"We've seen first-hand how voice technology can enhance gameplay, providing consumers with a dynamic experience and a more intuitive way to interact with the game, as well as other gamers when it comes to online play," said Ami Blaire, director, product marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "With the launch of the stand-alone USB headset (for PlayStation 2), we've opened the doors for our first and third party developers to incorporate voice technology in new and creative ways with the goal of providing our consumers with a completely immersive experience."

Coincidentally enough, a title that makes full use of the USB headset, SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs, has also hit retailers today. Current and upcoming titles that utilize the USB headset are as follows:
