It is now officially Tuesday, August 26th, which means Soul Calibur II has shipped to stores shelves nationwide!

"Consumer anticipation for Soul Calibur II has been monumental," said Dan DeMatteo, President and Chief Operating Officer of GameStop. "Our pre-sale programs have been strong since early on and we fully expect Soul Calibur II to be one of the best-selling titles of 2003."

And undoubtedly, it will be - Soul Calibur II received the "Best Fighting Game" award at the 2003 Electronic Entertainment Expo. With 10 game modes, more than 15 characters from the original game, a slew of unlockable costumes, arenas and characters, over 200 collectible weapons and items, as well as Tekken's Heihachi as an exclusive character (PlayStation 2 version only), Soul Calibur II has the potential to be the best fighting game ever made.

"We have finely tuned every aspect of game play to make the release of Soul Calibur II an event well worth waiting for," said Jim Atkiss, Product Marketing Manager of Namco Hometek Inc. "The game has already taken top honors as 'Best Fighting Game' at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, and it's poised to exceed expectations and take home even more awards by year's end.

We already have our grimy hands on a copy of Soul Calibur II, so expect a review later this week!
