Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today its sponsorship of ESPN's X Games X, which is set to rock Los Angeles from August 5-8.
"As a sponsor of the X Games, it has been amazing to see the growth of the event over the past 10 years -- action sports such as skateboarding, BMX and surfing have become part of mainstream pop-culture lifestyle," said Ami Blaire, director, product marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "Our business growth and expansion in the past 10 years since the launch of the original PlayStation mirrors that of the X Games, taking culturally relevant entertainment and evolving its reach into the mass-market audience."
As its always done as a sponsor, SCEA will bring along the PlayStation 2 Touring Attraction, packed with demo kiosks of the latest first-party titles including Gran Turismo 4, Hot Shots Golf Fore!, Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal, Sly 2: Band of Thieves, ATV Offroad Fury 3 and Athens 2004. Sony also plans to have kiosks in the VIP lounges and athlete registration areas for X Games athletes to get their game on as well. Shaun White will even be on-hand for an hour-long autograph session on Friday, August 6 starting at 2 PM.
The ESPN X Games X will be telecast on ESPN and ABC, so be sure to catch it if you're not able to make the trip to sunny LA.
