Hey, what's that smell? It's slightly buttery, maybe just a little sugary and reeks of money. Ahaaaaa, it's the inevitable release of a video game based on a CG animated film. You can almost hear the cacophony of cash registers cha-chinging as parents swoop into their nearby Wal-Marts to fetch something to shut little Timmy's incessant yapper up for more than five minutes... at least until they have to pile everyone into the minivan and plunk down $50 to get everyone in to see the movie next weekend.

And this is why we're not even imaginary parents.

"In collaboration with DreamWorks Animation we have developed three unique titles introducing new characters and all-new storylines expanding the Over the Hedge world," explains Kim Salzer, vice president of global brand management for Activision Publishing. "The games give movie and video game fans control of the four main characters and lets them experience firsthand their camaraderie and wacky adventures."

Those three titles are console, handheld and PC variants, but the only version you need concern yourself with is the PS2 version, since you clearly came here searching for naught but PlayStation-related news, yes? No? Well fine, then, we hope you're happy with one of those other versions. We'll just play our PS2 version and enjoy the 30+ levels, the mini-games like golf cart demolition derby and lawn ornament target practice and you just sit in your ivory tower of gaming! See if we care!

We're gonna go drink and then walk around the E3 show floor tomorrow, so there.
