As fellow supporters of age-old mantras (just for the fun of it, really), we're totally in favor of giving credit where credit is rightfully due. But to think a game can start raking in ceremonial accolades not even a week after washing up stateside is, well, unheard of!

For Yoshinori Ono and his team at Capcom, though, it's a sweet, sweet reality, as Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, their latest effort in the acclaimed action series, has taken home the MPSE 2006 Golden Reel Award for Best Sound Editing in Computer Entertainment.

The Golden Reel Awards, presented by MPSE are held annually to celebrate the year's best in several aspects of sound editing in movies, television, home video and computer entertainment. The 53rd MPSE awards ceremony was held on March 4 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in - you guessed it - Beverly Hills, California.

"It is an honor to be recognized for the team's efforts in sound editing alongside other talented groups from the motion picture and television industry," wept Ono, producer, Capcom Co., Ltd. "We take great pride in the production effort that we put behind Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams and I am thrilled this project was highly regarded for its technological merits in sound."

Dawn of Dreams, set roughly 15 years after the annihilation of Japanese warlord Oda Nobunaga, tells the story of Soki, a young warrior tasked to put an end to the power-grabbing attempts of Nobunaga's dark successor, Hideyoshi Toyotomi. With any hope, the audio department won't be the only place this game exceeds, but we'll let you know soon enough!
