You can't keep a cowardly and bumbling almost-capable-of-speech dog down, apparently. Scooby-Doo has been around in one form or another for more than 40 years, and he remains active. As of late, he plies his trade primarily in straight-to-video animated movies and video games, and one of each is on the way this fall.

Scooby-Doo! and the Spooky Swamp comes to the PlayStation 2 alongside the release of Scooby-Doo! Camp Scare in your local video store (assuming video stores are still a thing). Spooky Swamp will see players solving swamp-based mysteries by snooping for clues with gadgets, and engaging in a bit of puzzle solving and violence. (It wouldn't be a video game without enemies to fight.) Collect Scooby Snacks to unlock spine-tingling new outfits!

A second player can jump in at any time for cooperative shenanigans, and each player can seamlessly switch between Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred. We don't know if Scrappy-Doo or Scooby-Dum will be involved in the game. Considering Scooby's continued ability to find work, one would think he'd share the wealth and try to get his languishing family members a little piece of the action. Ah well, showbiz families are always screwed up.

Leave it to the crazy Aussies at Torus Games to continue development for the PlayStation 2. If you don't have the elusive backward-compatible PlayStation 3, be sure to see if the old girl still runs before picking up this new adventure. I don't know how popular Scooby-Doo is with the kids these days, but I can get behind any children's franchise that promotes skepticism and scientific thinking. Spoiler alert: it's never a ghost.
