In our last news article about the success of the Sony PlayStation brand we mentioned the PS2 being indestructible. Well, seconds later a press release came in which only but underlined that statement.

Square Enix's MMORPG Final Fantasy XI has successfully launched the first in three previously announced add-ons on the PS2. For 10 bucks (alright, $9,99 without taxes) players can now download “A Crystalline Prophecy: Ode of Life Bestowing” through the PlayOnline Viewer.

The development of the add-on scenario has been lead by Masato Kato who is responsible for the stories and scenarios of Final Fantasy XI, and its first expansion pack, Rise of the Zilart. He will also be part of the team working on the future planned add-ons “A Moogle Kupo d’Etat – Evil in Small Doses” and “A Shantotto Ascension – The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born”. Both are planned to be released in 2009. When exactly that will happen is still to be determined. We will definitely keep you posted as soon as Square Enix tells the world.

The add-on pack goes hand in hand with the game's April update which brings a series of new content to the game. The fact that we're a lazy bunch and currently no one in the office is addicted to any MMORPG prevents us from listing all the new stuff in Final Fantasy XI. But as Square Enix was kind enough to send us a link with a list of new content we are going to pass it along. So, here it is.
