2K Sports and Konami are bringing lots of baseball action to the PlayStation 2 this July. MLB Power Pros 2008 is headed to the PS2, only the second time the franchise has appeared in the US. Its visual appeal and miniature Major League Baseball player models were a hit with consumers, so it only makes sense that the two companies team up to bring the franchise back for another inning.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Konami again, and with the Baseball™ season now in full swing, we’re proud to offer our fans a refreshingly smart and exciting baseball game that is easily accessible for all ages,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “Baseball enthusiasts will appreciate the variety of newly added features, intuitive game modes and improved overall feel, and we look forward to hitting one out of the park this season with MLB Power Pros 2008.”

There are tons of different game modes included with the game, such as Practice, Exhibition, League, and Home Run Challenge. Players will even get the chance to be a general manager and control the destiny of their franchise in Season mode. There's also Success and MLB Life modes, which are entertaining story modes included with the game. Success Mode throws players into the shoes of players rising up through the Double A Minor League system. Players can even take their players into the MLB Life mode, where they'll play through a 20 year career for their player of choice. As a general manager, players will get the chance to trade and sign free agents, as well as coordinate practice schedules, make equipment purchases, among other duties.

MLB Power Pros 2008 steps up to bat July this year for the PlayStation 2.
