What does the month of fools have in store for us?
Published: April 1, 2008
Welcome to Shipping Out, our weekly notice of all them thar games that ship from publishers to retailers in preparation for their street date a day later. In many cases, these games won't be on store shelves until tomorrow, but in the interest of getting the word out, letting the PR departments have their fancy quotes and saving us sanity as the weekly releases pile up, we're going to be consolidating everything down into one handy little news story at the end of the day, along with this description. Neat, eh? And lazy!
[PlayStation 2]
[Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis]
Atelier Iris fans, take note: NIS America and Gust Co., Ltd's highly anticipated Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis releases today. As the fourth entry in the series, Mana Khemia is a bit different than the other Atelier Iris games. Players take the role of Vayne Aurelius, a novice alchemist attending Al-Revis Academy, in what can best be described as a campus sim style RPG.
The game sports all kinds of nifty little features like avatar crafting, which lets players personalize their characters through skills and stat crafting instead of traditional experience gain, item crafting, team crafting, allowing players to use their team's recipes, no random encounters, and burst attack, a combo system reminiscent of fighting games that let players take down the enemy with ease.
To commemorate the launch of the game, NIS America is releasing a special Limited Edition box set containing the original soundtrack, a quick synthesis chart, and a full color poster, all wrapped in a nice premium cover that's sure to make Atelier Iris fans go bonkers.
