Ratatouille Breaking Sales Milestones, Makes Hardcore Games Jealous

And you wonder why licensed movie products are constantly released?

THQ is one smart company. What better way to line your pockets than to piggyback off of successful Pixar/Disney collaborations?

Ratatouille, the video game based off of the movie of the same name, has moved almost 4 million units worldwide across 11 different gaming platforms. In fact, it's been so successful it's been inducted into Xbox 360's “Platinum Family Hits” and PlayStation 2's “Greatest Hits”. This achievement comes with the new price point of $19.99, which is sure to move even more units out the door.

For those wondering, players take the role of Remy, a young rat at odds with his family, in Ratatouille. Some highlights from the film are in the game, including characters and locations. Players can complete a number of missions or go head to head in multiplayer. If you really liked the movie, or you're just really hungry and don't feel like going to the fridge, Ratatouille is probably the game you'll want to pick up.

I always wonder who buys these games, since I've never seen anyone I know own a movie licensed game, but I guess it doesn't matter. With sales like these, THQ can afford to take itself out to dinner now. And you can bet they'll jump on the next Disney/Pixar film, WALL E, in no time. There will be another 4 million people around the world who will buy that one too.
