Believe it or not, a good 70 million people find themselves hitting up Neopets.com on a daily basis, playing the role of the responsible... er, virtual pet owner. The experience that is Neopets has finally gotten an offline accommodation, as Sony Computer Entertainment America has shipped Neopets: The Darkest Faerie off to retailers today.

"We are excited to have a gaming partner that understands and appreciates the dynamics that have made Neopets.com so successful," grins Doug Dohring, chairman and CEO, Neopets, Inc. "In view of SCEA's incredibly successful gaming technology and creativity we are confident that Neopets: The Darkest Faerie will extend the unique Neopets entertainment experience to the PS2 platform in a seamless and innovative manner."

A PS2 exclusive and fully-interactive adventure game to boot, Neopets casts players the roles of Tormund and Roberta (a Lupe and an Acara, respectively... assuming you know what the hell that means) on a quest to rid the magical land of Meridell (in the magical world of Neopia, no less) from the peril-inducing ways of prison escapee and overall no-good gal, the Darkest Faerie. Take down her minions, explore numerous Neopia locals, and even get a bit of your role-playing game on, using equipped weapons, armor, customizable "mote magic" and the always assistive Petpets to your advantage. It's the Neopet way, we tell you!

"The 30 million users in the Neopets community are hungry for what Neopets: The Darkest Faerie delivers -- new action, new storylines, and engaging new characters," insists Susan Nourai, director, online and product marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "From combat to exploration, Neopets: The Darkest Faerie also offers first-rate gameplay and features that will appeal to all gaming enthusiasts."

Neopets: The Darkest Faerie has likely strolled down candy cane lane into a fantastical retail near you. No worries, we won't tell anyone if you hop and skip on your way to pick this one up.
