For those waiting for a follow-up to the surprisingly good NBA Street Vol. 2, you needn't wait any longer. EA has shipped NBA Street V3 to stores and plenty of copies should be waiting for you when you arrive at your local games store.

For those that haven't been following the third iteration of arguably the best arcade basketball game series in history (yes, even besting former champ NBA Jam), the developers up at EA Canada have been hard at work tweaking, upgrading and adding in new modes, refinements and improvements to the familiar formula.

A dunk contest mode, court creator so you can literally carve out your home turf and upgrade your custom baller with skills and gear (as seemingly all of EA's BIG titles have be saddled with), the inclusion of the Beastie Boys as playable characters, the development of the right analog stick (slapped with the dubious moniker of Trick Stick) for performing advanced trick and dunk moves, and interactive GameBreakers for those that want to put a personal touch (and add some challenge) to the score-sapping ultra move.

It's also interesting (though pointless for PS2 and Xbox gamers) that Nintendo consented to allow their all-star characters (Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach) in the game in lieu of online play, so if you're a 'Cube lover, at least you get something the online-enabled crowd doesn't.

The game, like most of EA's roster, will set you back a nice, even $50, and is available now. Expect our review in a few days.
