Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

Allied Assault

Ho ho, that's a Medal of Honor title but we used it for an Activision story!

PlayStation 2 and PSP owners, we're sorry. We're sorry that every time there's been a mention of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, all the attention has been pushed to the PS3 version, but that's not hitting until next month. All our previews and [ps3media=83]media updates[/ps3media] have been all about the next-gen version when the current-gen and portable ones are hitting first. Sorry about that.

But hey, it's not entirely our fault. For starters, Activision has been just as gung-ho about releasing info on the next-gen versions as we have. In fact, we only have a single screen shot for the current-gen versions, so even if we wanted to preview it (which we don't), we haven't had the chance (because we're all next-gen whores now).

Still, even without much coverage, the core game should be rather similar, one would think. Developer Raven Software hasn't really messed with the core formula that they introduced in the X-Men Legends series, but they did fix one of our gripes about the sequel in that MUA is definitely deeper. It's also bigger, with 140 Marvel characters and new movies and locations and a storyline and blah blah blah. You've probably heard this a million times (and if you haven't, someone hasn't been visiting the PS3 section, now, have they?).

Both the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable versions of the game hit today for about 40 bucks a pop. The PS3 version, which includes waggle and 1080p visuals, will hit right alongside the launch of the system next month. Next month! Eeek!
