Getting Up Going Out

We were going to make some clever reference to the game shipping and the contents being under pressure, but we're too lame to make that connection.

It seems like every time we sit down, our inbox is filled with some kind of announcement about Marc Ecko's Getting Up. We've filled you in on the soundtrack, on the MTV Films tie-in, the Hollywood voice cast, announced the game had finally been finished and now, happily, we can tell you the game has shipped to stores and should be on shelves starting tomorrow-ish.

"Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure breaks the mold of the current crop of games by fusing authentic urban culture with truly diverse gameplay," said Marc Metis, Senior VP of Marketing at Atari, and clearly clueless about how "urban" games have gotten in the past couple years. "With its unique story, talent, music, and gameplay design, Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure answers consumers' call for innovation and originality in gaming."

So Mr. Metis may not know games too much, or at least not gaming trends, but at least he's right about one thing: the game certainly looks like it'll offer something different, thanks to having the guiding hand of developer The Collective building things. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Indiana Jones developer clearly understands how to make an platformer with a bit of solid combat.

Definitely check the headlines up above to see some of the voice cast and soundtrack details (they're mighty impressive), but there is one more little tidbit we can share with you: a limited-edition version of the game will ship with the plain vanilla one that comes packed in a special tin with Marc Ecko's Blackbook, a DVD with movies, level run-downs, making-of footage, tips, and a peek into the whole development process. Oh, and you'll get a Getting Up stylized X logo pen, if that's your thing.

We'll have a review very, very soon. Keep your eyes peeled.
