The Madden Challenge is Ova!
Jarvis Thompson pockets 100 grand.
Published: February 13, 2006
It's hard not want to rush out and start practicing for the next Madden Challenge when you hear how much money these guys can get just for playing the game better than everyone else. $100,000. Seriously, think about that, that's five zeros. All for sitting on your ass and freaking out over roster changes with each new version of Madden that hits. Not a bad way to make a couple years' pay.
We're just jealous, of course, and the winner, Jarvis Thompson from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, drove all the way out to Minneapolis to clinch his spot. He rode it out to the end with Mobile Alabama native Haarwun Brown, himself a bit of a traveler after winning the St. Louis regionals to take his spot. The game was fairly lopsided, with Thompson's Eagles stomping out a 42-18 win.
"It's a great feeling and I still can't believe I actually won. There were some tough rounds but I used the Eagles to take advantage of Donovan McNabb," Thompson beamed, all the while thinking about how quickly all those zeros will spend.
Since it's fun to cut and paste raw numbers, here are all the players that competed and their regions, ages and hometowns, plus all the NFL players that cheered everyone on.
