What, you didn't forget that Q Entertainment's hit puzzler was making a PS2 debut, did you?

Launch titles are always a curious bunch. They not only are associated with setting the front-running standard for a system's software capabilities, but also the challenge of hailing in that initial crowd of buyers that can make or break the system's reception (a new console's bells and whistles might be nice, but you've have something decent to play on it).

This would normally be a fine time to throw down our analytical take on the PlayStation 3, but we're actually harking back nearly two years ago to the PSP's debut in the states. Remember that entire cast of launch games? Probably not. But do you remember Lumines? Ahh, we thought so! Q Entertainment's puzzler was a lot of things in one: a fresh take on an often forgotten genre, a mesmerizing hybrid of visual and aural treats (trippy backgrounds meets a thumping soundtrack), and a stand-alone experience solid enough to make plunking down $250 on Sony's handheld at the time seem a tad more logical and work your buck.

So where is this convoluted road leading to, you ask? Well, as you may well know, Q did make a sequel, but more importantly, they've made the jump to PlayStation 2 with Lumines Plus, capturing not only the bones and flesh of the original Lumines, but many of the features included in its successor. Better yet, the action's now TV-sized!

"With the immense global fan base for the PlayStation 2, Lumines Plus is the perfect opportunity for existing Lumines fans and newcomers to experience the addictive puzzle gameplay on their big screen TVs," insists Craig Relyea, vice president of marketing, Disney Interactive Studios (formerly Buena Vista Games). "With the creativity and passion of those who play Lumines games, we anticipate many living rooms filled with grudge matches to determine Lumines Plus supremacy."

Ready for a content breakdown? Ok, here goes... 30 skins, 100 puzzles, an engaging single-player mode, intense two-player for those head-to-head matches... all under a $19.99 price tag!

We think your pocket-sized Benjamin has been eyein' this one for a long time. Lumines Plus has arrived!
