Whether you were a fan of the first Headhunter or not, Sega has made some big plans for the title. Today, it was announced the "Headhunter: Redemption" is in development, and is set to make an appearance at the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Developed by Amuze, the sequel is set to pick up where the first game's story left off, 20 years later after the devastation of the Bloody Mars virus. "Headhunter: Redemption" tells the story of Jack Wade, the Headhunter in charge of keeping order in a futuristic world corrupted by organized crime and mass-media. Although Jack already seems to have his hands full, the real trouble starts when he and his partner Leeza X discover an arms smuggling operation that threatens the fate of the world. Together, they must put a stop to it and save the world from its predestined doom.
In a very real and symbolic fashion, "Headhunter: Redemption" has its world divided into two realities - "Above" and "Below" (think Heaven and Hell). While "Above" is the bustling metropolitan controlled by powerful corporations and mass-media, "Below" is the subterranean home to criminals and misfits, who by the demand of the "Above", have been forced to work in order to survive.
"'Headhunter: Redemption' delivers a blockbuster twist on the stealth/action genre," said Mike Fischer, vice president of marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "Blending a twisting plot reminiscent of Hollywood thrillers and cinematic production values with frenetic third-person combat, turbo-charged driving and strategic stealth scenarios, 'Headhunter: Redemption' is definitely a glimpse at the darker side of SEGA."
Curious yet? While "Headhunter: Redemption" may not be hitting shelves until late this year, the game will be seeing the light of day at this year's E3. Check back with us here at PSX2.com for more as we bring you first-hand coverage from E3 2003 this May!
